Your choice

Turnretargeting off.

You can stop us choosing ads from your app activity, on your device or by asking us directly. It takes a few minutes.

What opting out does and does not do

Retargeting means showing an ad to someone because of what they did in an app, for example leaving a basket unfinished or going quiet. When you opt out, we stop using your mobile advertising ID to choose ads for you.

  • What changes. We no longer build or use audiences that include your advertising ID, and we do not bid on ads aimed at you.
  • What does not change. You will still see ads in free apps. They are simply not chosen from your app activity by us. Other companies run their own services, and an opt-out with us does not switch those off.

The strongest control is on your device, because it covers every company at once. We describe it first.

Device controls

Menu names change between versions and between makers, so treat these steps as a guide.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy and Security, then Tracking.
  3. Turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track to stop every app from asking, or leave it on and switch off individual apps in the list below it.

With tracking off, an app cannot read your IDFA, which is what an advertiser needs to recognise you across apps.

Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy or Google, depending on your device, then Ads.
  3. Tap Delete advertising ID and confirm.

Wording varies by device and Android version. Some versions label the option differently, or place it under a path such as Settings, Security and privacy, Privacy, Ads. After you delete the ID, apps receive a blank value in place of it.

Opt out with us directly

If you send us your mobile advertising ID, we add it to a suppression list. Retargeting is then switched off for that identifier in our services. We also confirm to the email address you give us. We act on each request promptly and write to you once it is done.

Where to find your advertising ID. On iPhone, the IDFA does not appear in Settings, and you can read it through an app that displays device identifiers. On Android, it appears in Settings under Google, then Ads, on many devices. Several free apps can also display either ID. Copy it, paste it below and tell us whether it is iOS or Android. Do not enter any other personal data in that box.

We use these details only to carry out and confirm your request.

Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control is a signal your browser can send to every site you visit, asking it not to sell or share your data. This website honours it by keeping the advertising category off. You can switch the signal on in some browsers and through some privacy extensions. It covers that browser only, so it does not replace the device controls in section 2.

Privacy rights requests

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing and use for targeted advertising. The form above is our route for the opt-out. For other requests, write to privacy@mobiretarget.com or use the contact page. You can also act through an authorised agent. We may ask the agent for proof of their authority, and we may ask you to confirm the request. Read more in the privacy policy.

How long an opt-out lasts

An opt-out with us applies to the advertising ID you gave us. If you reset your advertising ID, delete it and a new one is created, or switch to a new phone, the new identifier is a stranger to our suppression list. In those cases, repeat the request with the new ID.

This is why device controls are the durable route. Turning off tracking on iOS, or deleting the advertising ID on Android, works for every company and does not depend on anyone keeping a list.
